It may be a cliché, but “Music was my first love” definitely applies to JustPhilip.
He grew up in a small village in the Netherlands and from an early age his interest turned to music.
On his sixth birthday he got a classical guitar and tried to learn to play, without any success.
When he got older he played regularly on the electronic organ from his mother with which he experimented and organ was used for what it was not actually intended for. At that time he listened to music by ELO, Alan Parsons and Pink Floyd, among others, which only strengthened the interest in experimenting even more with sound.
In the early 1980s he saw a concert of Jean Michel Jarre on TV, he was the first western musician to give a concert in China. After seeing this concert he bought his first keyboard, which was soon expanded with several synthesizers and drum computers.
It was very much experimenting with sound and equipment at that time. The Commodore 64 computer was programmed as a drum computer or sequencer and the tape recorder functioned as an echo device or loop station.
Inspired by music by Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, Kitaro, Tomita and Kraftwerk, among others, the first instrumental songs were written, but only recordings for own use.
Unfortunately it has remained with making music as a hobby over the years. In addition to his own productions, he also played in a number of bands with a diversity of different music styles and also made instrumental tapes for RTL program De Soundmix show, a Dutch TV show.
The love for electronic music of the past remained his great passion. And after years of producing for others, his first album 'The Conflict' was a fact And hopefully there will be many more albums to come.
Enjoy the music of JustPhilip
