Biography

JustPhilip is an artist whose love for music started at a young age. Born and raised in a small village in the Netherlands,
he developed his musical talents largely on his own. His musical journey began at the age of six when he got his first instrument: a classical guitar.

When he got older he played regularly on the electronic organ in the livingroom with which he experimented and organ was used for what it was not actually intended for.
At that time he listened to music by ELO, Alan Parsons and Pink Floyd, among others, which only strengthened the interest in experimenting even more with sound.

In the early 1980s, he discovered the work of Jean Michel Jarre after seeing a concert he gave in China.
Watching this performance on TV was an eye-opener for JustPhilip and led to the purchase of his first keyboard, which was soon expanded with synthesizers and drum machines.

It was very much experimenting with sound and equipment at that time.
The Commodore 64 computer was programmed as a drum computer or sequencer and the tape recorder functioned as an echo device or loop station.

Inspired by artists such as Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, Kitaro, Tomita, and Kraftwerk,
he started composing his own instrumental tracks. These remained, however, as private recordings at first.

Although music remained his greatest passion, it stayed a hobby for many years.
After years of producing for others, JustPhilip released his debut album The Conflict followed by other albums and singles.
His music can best be described as a captivating blend of '70s and '80s electronic music with modern EDM influences.
